Kranioplastie: Geschichte, Materialien, aktuelle Techniken und Ergebnisse // Cranioplasty: History, materials, recent techniques and results Journal für Neurologie, Neurochirurgie und Psychiatrie 2017; 18 (4): 136-142 Volltext (PDF) Summary Praxisrelevanz Abbildungen
Keywords: Alloplastik, autologer Eigenknochen, Hemikraniektomie, Kranioplastie, alloplasty, autologous bone flap, cranioplasty, hemicraniectomy There is plenty of recent and historical literature in neurosurgery documenting the development and technique of cranioplasty. Besides the autologues bone flap artificial materials are used (polymethylmethacrylate, hydroxyapatite, titanium mesh, alumina ceramics, polyetheretherketone). New indications for decompressive craniectomy were established. Everyone who suffered from a calvarial defect should undergo reconstructive surgery with a predictable stable and an excellent aesthetic result. Cranioplasty nowadays is performed within weeks or a few months after the primary surgery. Furthermore we give a short overview of cranioplasty`s history, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the used materials and present our own results within the time period from 2005 until 2014 (233 patients).
