As the indication for transcatheter aortic valve implantation has been expanded and the devices have steadily improved, there is an increasing number of TAVI procedures worldwide in high- as well as in low-riskpatients. In the following article the current indication for TAVI, the limitations, procedural aspects and follow-up including the medical therapy will be discussed.
Kurzfassung: Mit der Ausweitung der Indikation der Transkatheter-Aortenklappenimplantation (TAVI) und Verbesserung der Devices kam es weltweit zu einer Zunahme der Prozeduren sowohl im Hoch- als auch im Niedrigrisiko-Bereich. In dieser Übersicht werden die aktuellen Indikationen für TAVI mit den Limitationen, prozedurale Aspekte und Nachsorge inklusive der postinterventionellen medikamentösen Therapie dargestell.
