In this study, 28 patients with type 2 diabetes and mild-to-moderate hypertension were given placebo or telmisartan 40 mg for 3 weeks in a cross-over design with 2-week placebo wash-out.2 Telmisartan significantly reduced pulse wave velocity along the carotid-femoral route, with improvements along the carotid-radial route approaching significance. 1.
