First Cell Cycle
Journal für Reproduktionsmedizin und Endokrinologie - Journal of Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology 2006; 3 (6): 367-372
Timing of the first cell cycle of a human zygote. The upper figure line indicates the biological occurrence in oocytes from fertilization to first cleavage. Following sperm penetration, the second meiotic division is completed. After first polar body extrusion, the G1-phase of the first cell cycle begins, in which male and female
pronuclei appear. The G1-phase is followed by the S-phase in which the chromosomes replicate. It is followed by the G2-phase in which DNA synthesis cannot be observed any more. The M-phase of the first cell cycle begins with the disappearance of pronuclei and lasts until completion of the first cell division. 0PN = no pronucleus;

Anti-Zona pellucida antibodies
Journal für Reproduktionsmedizin und Endokrinologie - Journal of Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology 2006; 3 (2): 94-97
Detection of anti-ZP antibodies in POF patients by dot immunoassay. The human zona pellucida was isolated from unfertilised oocytes
in a clinical program of IVF-ET under informed consent. Solubilised protein (0.01 µg) was dotted onto a nitrocellulose membrane. The membrane
was incubated with the patients’ diluted sera and subsequently treated with an anti-human IgG antibody conjugated with horseradish
peroxidase. Color development was performed by chloronaphthol and H2O2. Densitometric values showing more than twice over the SD values
of the control group (healthy males) were assessed as positive. 50 % (5/10) of POF patients showed positive reaction for anti-zona antibodies,
while 11.8 % (2/17) were positive in the other infertile women. Keywords: antibody,

Plasticity of Stem Cells: Cell-fusion Versus Transdifferentiation
Sex mismateched stem cell transplantation
Journal für Reproduktionsmedizin und Endokrinologie - Journal of Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology 2005; 2 (4): 239-245
Sex mismatched stem cell transplantation to track progeny cells: claims on the plasticity of
stem cells often rely on the appearance of Y-positive cells in fe male recipients of male bone marrow transplant donors (left). Injection of marked bone marrow cells from female donors into male recipients is more suitable to demonstrate fusion events because marked Y chromosome-positive cells found in the recipient must have been formed by a fusion event (right).
