This paper examines a broad spectrum of the latest available global guidelines on the subject of varicose veins disease. The sometimes slightly differing recommendations on varicose vein therapy are discussed and the entire process from anamnesis to follow-up treatment, possible complications and the avoidance of incorrect treatment is discussed.
The current treatment strategies with conventional, interventional and conservative treatment are dealt with in a guideline-specific manner. A too detailed presentation of the topic was avoided; the respective original publications are recommended for this purpose.

Kurzfassung: In dieser Arbeit wird ein breites Spektrum der neuesten verfügbaren globalen Leitlinien zum Thema Krampfadern untersucht. Hierbei wird auf die teilweise unterschiedlichen Empfehlungen zur Varizentherapie eingegangen und der gesamte Prozess von der Anamnese bis zur Nachbehandlung, mögliche Komplikationen und Vermeidung von Fehlbehandlungen be­trachtet.
Die aktuellen Behandlungsstrategien mit konventioneller, interventioneller und konservativer ­Behandlung werden leitlinienspezifisch behandelt. Auf eine zu detaillierte Darstellung des Themas wurde verzichtet, hierfür sei die jeweilige Originalpublikation empfohlen.
