Koalitionsvertrag 2025 und Reproduktionsmedizin: Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt // German Coalition Agreement 2025 and reproductive medicine – hope dies last Journal für Reproduktionsmedizin und Endokrinologie - Journal of Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology 2025; 22 (3): 99-101 Volltext (PDF) Volltext (HTML) Summary Keywords: Eizellspende, Embryonenschutzgesetz, Finanzierung der künstlichen Befruchtung, Koalitionsvertrag 2025, coalition agreement 2025, egg donation, embryo protection act, funding of ART In its Coalition Agreement 2025, the new German government has also taken a stance on reproductive medicine. However, the wording remains very general and open-ended. In contrast, the previous Coalition Agreement in 2021 contained very far-reaching statements on improving funding, regardless of medical indication, marital status, and sexual identity. The previous Coalition Agreement 2021 also included the intention to implement concrete changes to the Embryo Protection Act and to fundamentally address issues relating to the possible approval of egg donation and surrogacy. A commission was then set up under the leadership of the BMG, which formulated its findings in 2024. It is striking that the current coalition agreement does not contain any statements on the topics of egg donation and surrogacy, nor on other issues of the Embryo Protection Act, such as elective single embryo transfer.
