The renin-angiotensin system and the sympathetic nervous system in hypertension and congestive heart failure: implications for therapeutic interventions
Sympathisches Nervensystem - Blutgefäß
Journal of Clinical and Basic Cardiology 2001; 4 (1): 47-51
Sympathetic neuroeffector junction. Norepinephrine (NE) is released from the sympathetic nerve at the sympathetic neuroeffector junction, stimulating postsynaptic alpha1-adrenoreceptors (a1) leading to vasoconstriction. Angiotensin AT1 receptors are present presynaptically at this junction as well as postsynaptically on blood vessels. Stimulation of the presynaptic receptors enhances SNS-induced norepinephrine release. Adapted from Ohlstein [21, 22].
